Emerald Enigmas

this morning my mandarin teacher passed away. I’ve known her for a good fifteen years of my life. She taught me so much, how to speak mandarin, how to play the chinese harp, tang dynasty poems, war of the three kingdoms stories, cantonese songs, vegetarian curry mutton recipes :) I remember meeting her for the first time when I was four with a very snotty nose, she use to laugh at me, with me all the time. she’s watched me grow, watched me change as a person. every lesson with her felt like a meeting with an old friend. I can’t believe she’s gone but I know that every time I strum the strings of my chinese harp and the sounds of springtime reach my ears, I will think of her and play for her soul. She was a truly beautiful person, a pure heart, a gentle nature. may she forever rest in peace and strum her music through the chords of heaven.
